Generals Lose Home Opener To Trenton Rebels
Monmouth Generals welcomed an in - form Trenton Rebels to Nutswamp Turf in Middletown, New Jersey.
The Generals have added a handful of new players leading up to Sunday's match. One of the players that featured was Goalkeeper Nick Forlano.
Trenton Rebels scored three goals in the first half. It was a hot day in Monmouth County with temperatures reaching over 85 degrees. Throughout the match the referee called for water breaks, that lasted about five minutes.
Rebels went into the halftime break leading 3-0. The Generals made some changes going into the second half. Nick Forlano was in net for the first half, but was subbed out and Henry Zuniga was in net for the second half. This change wasn't because of an injury, coach Abisai just wanted to rotate the squad and give the team the best opportunity to win. In the second half Nick Forlano featured as an outfield player.
The Rebels scored their fourth and final goal of the day. For about the final twenty minutes the Generals were passing the pall around, taking some shots on net. There was clearly an improvement in play from last week.
" Another tough game today against a well trained opponent" said Generals Captain Ambrogio Troia. "Played better as a unit today compared to last week. This week we go into training knowing what needs to be worked on for next Saturday".
The Generals home stand continues at they host Bulldogs SC on July 6th at 4PM. Admission is free to all Generals home matches!
