Interview With Monmouth Generals FC First Signing Matthew Mongioi

Monmouth Generals FC official website (monmouthgeneralsfc.com) met up with the first signing in Monmouth Generals history Matthew Mongioi during the photoshoot.

MGFC: What are your thoughts on the soccer scene in Monmouth County?

Matthew Mongioi: "We seem to be doing good job with outreach. It adds a good aspect to everything and having FC Monmouth to really expand just soccer in general to be honest. Soccer is popular in this area but once you get past the young travel teams there's nothing.I'm looking forward to the rivalries with other teams from the area".

Monmouth County is home to over 600,000 people. There are soccer fans throughout the county that support teams abroad, but for the county to have two teams is something special. Having more than one team creates a rivalry even if both teams are not playing in the same league. It creates more excitement for the sport in Monmouth County and that's what we are all trying to do, bring the county together with the beautiful game of soccer.

MGFC: Are you excited for the Generals inaugural season next summer?

Matthew Mongioi: I'm really excited to just start playing again. I played through College so to get back on the field with a cohesive team and really get to play is going to be really fun. I'm really looking forward to it because I really miss playing.

If you are looking forward to Monmouth Generals FC inaugural season next summer in the Garden State Soccer League Summer League, we will have events leading up to preseason and our first regular season match. Stay tuned on social media. At these events you will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Generals Head Coach Carlos Figueroa or a Generals player. More on the events soon.

Everyone at Monmouth Generals FC is looking forward to our first season in the summer of 2019.
