Statement From Monmouth Generals Owner John Frusciante On The United Bid Hosting The 2026 World Cup
Early this morning in Moscow, the FIFA member associations voted on who should host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Morocco or the United Bid (United States, Canada and Mexico). The United Bid won the vote by 134-65.
Hosting the 2026 World Cup in the U.S. will be great for lower division clubs across the United States. In the summer of 2026 all the attention will be turned to a worldwide event taken place in the U.S, with the World Cup Final slated to take place in MetLife Stadium (Home of the New York Giants and Jets) in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
By hosting the 2026 World Cup the United States Soccer Federation will make a profit of $11 billion dollars. I strongly urge U.S Soccer to invest some of their profits in lower division soccer, for example USSF could invest in the state associations so there will no longer be an entry fee, or clubs dont have to pay for refs. The United States Soccer Federation have the resources and they will have a lot more money to play with once the 2026 World Cup is finished. I just want to see the federation do whats right for the game in this country which is investing in the sport at all levels.
